Born and raised in Syracuse, New York, James is licensed CPA in both New York and California as well as a member of the New York State Bar since 1992. He is an LL.M. in Taxation from the University of San Diego School of Law and have over 25 years of experience in the field of tax law. This experience includes federal and state tax work for individuals, partnerships and corporations.
His background ranges from the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance, to the Big 4, to private industry, to a Fortune 500 multinational and most recently as Head of Tax for the Los Angeles (formerly San Diego) Chargers Football Team. In addition, he served as President of the San Diego Chapter of the Tax Executives Institute from 2006 – 2007.
He has been married for almost 18 years to wife Maritza and has 3 boys – Jimmy (17 years old), Lucas and Leo (identical 12-year-old twins). My hobbies include golf and hiking, but most of all spending time with his family. He looks forward to working diligently to find tax solutions for Slate’s clients and help them stay in compliance with federal and state taxing authorities
